Well,we departed Philly at 8:45Pm on Wed 30 Jan and arrived this morning in Paris at 10:10AM France time. The flight was about 7 hours and was pretty uneventful. We landed and then had a 2 1/2 hour bus ride to Lisieux which would be our first stop. We hit the ground running! So we began our trek across the French countryside as we took in the scenery from our Charter bus. We made a short pit stop somewhere along the way...don't ask me where...to get a bite to eat before getting to Lisieux.
Alas-we arrive in Lisieux where St. Therese of the Little Flower spent her later childhood years and would then enter the convent. We visited the house where she would eat her last meal before entering the convent. The houses and buildings were so quaint! We saw her 1st Communion dress and other childhood toys. The garden where she requested permission to enter the convent at the young age of 15 was quite a site. Although the flowers were dead (due to the weather), you could still imagine little Therese walking around there.
We later moved onto the Basilica of St. Therese. This majestic, old cathedral appeared with its grandeur and we were taken back by the magnitude. We celebrated Mass together in an adoration chapel within the Basilica. It was amazing! What splendor and beauty!
After we left the Basilica it was finally off to our hotel where we would check in and have dinner. We have now retired to our rooms for some much needed rest. We will head to the beaches of Normandy in the morning and then for a long bus ride to Troyes!!!! God is so good!!
